In Vietnam doctors helping parents find out sex of baby could face having their licence taken away from them. This has been proposed by the Ministry of Health due to the imbalance in baby genders. There is 112 boys born compared to 100 girls. Boys seem to be more favoured as they will continue on with the family business and take care of elderly relatives etc.
Duong Quoc Trong who is the deputy head of the General Department of Population and Family Planning said he realised it was going to be hard to monitor as it would be hard to know if doctors were giving verbal notification of gender.
